![]() ![]() And Krita is an open source alternative that's actively developed & available as a portable app.įor similar software, I've seen Corel Painter for ~$100 as a full version upgrade on sale, but it's rare - I've seen the student version for the same price much more often. Autodesk has a few apps, I think one of them is free in Windows 10's store. ![]() Corel also has a limited function Essentials version that I've seen sold for around $30, or bundled with other offers. A drawing tablet big enough to be useful will set you back closer to $200 OTOH if you go for the name brand, Wacom.įor similar software, I've seen Corel Painter for ~$100 as a full version upgrade on sale, but it's rare - I've seen the student version for the same price much more often. There are some cheaper Windows tablets with active pens available - I've seen them mostly on ebay - & I've seen drawing tablets starting in the $40 range for PCs/laptops on sale at Amazon, Newegg, & Monoprice. ![]() The downside, least for me, is I've never had much success with an app like this using a mouse, or a less precise touch screen on a tablet - I need to use a drawing tablet with a PC, or like I said, a screen that lets you use an active pen. I have it installed on a Windows tablet that has an active pen & it's nice. TwistedBrush Pro Studio is not bad at all. The previous giveaways version can co-exist with this if you install this into a new program files* sub-folder but the existing start menu will be over-written so either create new shorcuts to the old version if you want or make a copy of the start menu folder if you know how to do it safely. And the previous giveaway license was non-expiring, no reason to suspect this one will be any different. I don't have much to say on this other than it works under vista but WILL NOT run under XP since XP will report the tbrush.exe is not a valid win32 application the way it was built. It is nice to see a relatively modern image drawing application such as this using 64-bit image technology like I was talking about in the comments of a recent giveaway rather than an old turn of the century program like the one I mentioned in those comments. Only reason to have More than the 4Gbytes RAM in a 64-Bit edition of windows with a 32-bit executable is to prevent memory page file swapping. best a 32-bit application can use is 3Gbytes if a specific flag is set in the executable, otherwise the most it can allocate for its own use is 2Gbytes. Also todays giveaway installs ok under 32-bit Vista and is therefore a 32-bit application so unsure why it would benifit from 8GB or more RAM. Key works in the giveaway build ONLY not in the trial build downloadable from the vendors website. ![]()
